Bhilwara is an industrial city and a major trading hub in the Mewar region of west Ra-jasthan, India. It won the title 'Textile City of India” owing to a large number of cloth mills located in the region. It is also called the "Zoo of Minerals" famous for its mineral and stone industry particularly huge stores of mica, soapstone, copper, feldspar, quartz, white clay, and garnet.

Places to Visit in Bhilwara

It was the British who turned the place into a major industrial town from 19th century. Steel plants and glass factories punctuate the place. It is well connected by roads. Udaipur is about 151 kms away. Bhilwara derives its name probably from the Bhils who inhabited it in the early days.


A major delight of Bhilwara is its fairs and festivals. Attended by waves of people, they are a spectacle to the eye and excellent for capturing the rich and prosperous tradition and the culture of the region. Some of the popular ones are Ganesh Mela, Dhanop Mataji Mela, Ramdev Ji Ka Mela and Badnor Pashu Mela. Ganesh Mela ,Ganesh Temple Gandi Nagar Bhilwara.


Places To See In Bhilwara
Badnore Fort: This is a magnificent seven-storeyed structure 70 kms from Bhilwara. It stands sprawling atop a hill with massive fortification, many small monuments, and tem-ples.


Temples of Bijolia: Located 50 kms away, Bijolia is a city built around an old fort. On the eastern side there are three beautiful temples with the Hajaresvara Mahadeva temple being most popular. It has a high linga surrounded by hundreds of smaller ones.


Mandalgarh: This fort is the third fort of Mewar built by Rana Kumbha. It is 52 kms away. The Fort is 1 km long standing at a height of 1850 feet above sea level. There are numerous temples inside.


Asind: This town is famous for a temple built by Sawai Bhoj that stands on the left bank of the River Khari.
Shahpura: About 55 kms away, this town is famous for the contribution made by the Barhat family during India’s freedom struggle. It is also famous for its 700 year old Far Painting.


Menal: A favourite picnic spot for the locals. It is 80 kms away from Bhilwara with a scenic waterfall that plunges 150 feet down in a v-shaped valley with great force.


Mejha Dam: Just 17 kms away, this is another popular tourist spot. The garden is a beauty to behold especially during the rainy season. It also has a swimming pool, swings for the children and toy train.
