    Kuchman

If you are yearning for a leisurely holiday, yet want facilities befitting royalty then head for the magnificent "Kuchaman Fort" in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Built atop a 1000 feet high rock cliff, the imposing fort is a rare masterpiece of royal heritage. The fort houses splendid palaces, temples and palatial rooms decorated with exquisite frescoes and murals. A super deluxe heritage palace hotel now, it provides all the luxuries even as its original magnificence remains unchanged.

Kuchaman Fort now a heritage hotel resort is easily accessible from Delhi and Jaipur. It is of a special significance, as it remained unconquered by either the Marathas or the Mughals. The Fort's formidable ramparts, innumerable terraces, balconies, and viewing points alongwith its rich and interesting history, makes it a great holiday destination with a difference !

The views are spectacular since the hotel rises some 1000 feet from the entrance with several levels. The view at night of the lit-up city and the Aravalli hills and Sambar lake in the distance is enchanting. The Kuchamani folk artists and crafts persons have stalls in the Meena Bazaar, within the fort complex, selling exquisitely made handicrafts. The fort also houses a museum of weapons and armour. A major part of the collection is in gold or silver with floral and geometrical motifs. The hall of the palace houses the beautiful miniature Paintings, murals and gilded work. The walls have arches and little alcoves which contain beautiful Paintings with original inlay work executed in gold paint. It also has an underground swimming pool which is temperature controlled and a courtyard designed like a chess board where in earlier days, real men would stand in as chess pieces when the kings played !

Accommodation : 34 deluxe heritage theme rooms, all air conditioned with all modern amenities, TV, attached bathrooms with running hot and cold water.
